Twin Vee unveils major upgrades to 22- and 26-foot models

FORT PIERCE -- Twin Vee Inc., North America’s largest builder of catamaran fishing boats, has listened to customers and will unveil major upgrades to its mid-sized, offshore models during the 45th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show next week.

The fast-growing company will display the 2005 model of the 26-footer in the Sailfish Pavilion (booth #4115) alongside the company’s popular 19-foot Bay Cat model, also upgraded for 2005.

The improved 22- and 26-foot versions are the result of the company’s new passion for quality, innovation and customer choices, said Sales and Marketing Director Bob Chew.

The product upgrades combined with an expanded dealer network have strengthened the company’s ability to meet the growing demand for catamaran fishing and cruising boats, Chew said.

“We are not just displaying new products,” he said. “We are displaying an all-new company philosophy.”

Twin Vee president David East emphasized that no compromise was made on the soft ride and ease of ownership that propelled Twin Vee from a dinghy-based, mini-warehouse existence and into its thriving status into a major marine player in just under a decade.

Market statistics show that Twin Vee is building some 40 percent of the fiberglass catamaran fishing boats in North America. And that market share is increasing as increasing numbers of the 22- and 26-foot models are sold, Chew said.

Now, along with the great ride, East said, customers will have a great look, more functionality and a higher level of fit and finish.

Among the improvements to the mid-size models are:
• A high freeboard option that adds 8 inches to the gunwale height, giving a sleeker, more secure look to the model that is fast becoming popular among offshore fisherman desiring comfort in all weather conditions.
• A totally redesigned T-top that is much stronger, more functional and more visually appealing.
• A center console redesigned to accommodate flush-mount electronics, vertical storage for 10 rods and, most significantly, a lighted and vented head compartment. Easily accessible battery compartments are also provided in the console as is concealed access to instrument wiring.
• An exciting new two-tone blue accent color scheme that is standard throughout the product line. Other color schemes are available.
• An all-white cockpit sole with an improved non-skid texture and a more durable finish.
• An improved rear cockpit bulkhead design that replaces a non-insulated box using black hatches with a space-saving narrow bulkhead and two, large, portable coolers with color-coordinated cushions.
• An improved splashwell hatch system that better restricts water seepage into the bilge during roughwater conditions.

Chew said the early response to the high-freeboard design has been so good that nearly all the mid-sized models ordered by dealers have included that option.

The 22-footer has been popular among recreational catamaran fishermen since its inception as Twin Vee’s first offshore fishing model more than seven years ago. The 26-foot model that followed a couple of years later has not only found a loyal following among fisherman wanting more room but also among a number of commercial towing service operators around the country who need a durable, all-weather vessel.

The Florida Sportsman magazine uses a Twin Vee 26 at its eight fishing shows held throughout the state during the year. The high-freeboard model serves as an “offshore stage” seminar platform for captains making presentations on fishing techniques and products.

East said the push for better products and more choices is part of the company’s corporate strategy to strengthen its place as the top catamaran producer in North America.
